Therapy Groups

ATTENDING THE CAREGIVERS
The welfare of the patient with Alzheimer’s disease depends on the welfare of their caregivers. These are people under great emotional pressure who often suffer from psychological and health problems such as depression, anxiety and feelings of overburden.
Our therapy group programme allows us to investigate ways of improving their quality of life as they share their experiences and emotions in a group setting and by teaching them to care for their loved ones and for themselves.

“Behind every patient there is a caregiver who has to learn to face the disease”
Dr. SANDRA POUDEVIDA
A clinical psychologist, main researcher for Therapy Groups Programme of the Pasqual Maragall Foundation

By scientifically demonstrating the effectiveness of these kinds of interventions, it will be easier for more therapies to be universally implemented to improve the well-being of caregivers. Because if the caregiver fails, if this supprot fails, everything collapses and the Alzheimer’s disease patient also pays the consequences.
