We are launching a new online training and emotional support program for caregivers of people with Alzheimer's

At the end of September, the Pasqual Maragall Foundation will launch a new group care project non-professional caregivers of people with Alzheimer's: the Online training and emotional support program “Learn to care and take care of yourself”. An initiative that aims to provide caregivers with the necessary tools to manage, with the best possible quality of life, the day-to-day life with a person with Alzheimer's, to increase both their own well-being and that of the people they care for.

The new program, which has the support of the Generalitat de Catalunya and the support of three donor companies of the Foundation (Ricoh, PromoFarma and Valvi supermarkets), will consist of 8 weekly sessions, one hour long, led by therapists from the Pasqual Maragall Foundation. It is planned to launch 10 groups this year, with a maximum of 10 people each, and the forecast is that they will start in the last week of september.

The Registrations are completely free and can now be made at the following link: https://fpmaragall.org/cuidando-al-cuidador/

As explained Angels Castillo, therapist at the Pasqual Maragall Foundation and one of those responsible for this new program, “Thanks to technology, we can promote this online psychoeducational space, with a practical perspective, to provide support and resources to non-professional caregivers, the vast majority of whom are direct family members of people with Alzheimer's. This will be a space for expression free of judgement, of support between caregivers, where they will become aware of the impact that caring has on their own well-being, and where they will be able to equip themselves with the tools and resources necessary to face care with a better quality of life.”.
