A graduate in Medicine, he has taught at several Spanish universities. He has held positions of responsibility in the Spanish Government: Director General at the Ministry of Health, Undersecretary of Culture and Undersecretary of Social Affairs. He has been delegate of the Generalitat of Catalonia in Madrid and a leading expert in the European Union Commission. He has been president of Ifigenia Plus, Eolia Tarraco, Bumerang, Emplaza and VP of Terra Lycos.
He currently chairs Althia, Ediagnostic and the venture capital fund Inveready Biotech. He sits on several boards of directors and advisory boards in sectors such as ICT, finance and insurance, transport, communication and health. He is a member of the boards of trustees of the following foundations: Albéniz, Gran Teatro del Liceo, Museo Reina Sofía, Santa María La Real and Alianza por la Solidaridad. He chairs the Editorial Committee for Spain of the publishing house LID.
