She holds a PhD in Biology from the Autonomous University of Madrid and has a postdoc at the University of California-San Diego and The Scripts Research Institute, as well as at the Cancer Research Institute (IdiBell) in Barcelona. She was head of an independent group at IdiBell, which later moved to the Centre for Genomic Regulation (CRG). She has also worked as coordinator of the Cell Biology Unit at Pompeu Fabra University with the support of ICREA.
She is currently a professor at ICREA and at the Department of Experimental and Health Sciences at Pompeu Fabra University and a member of EMBO. She has a double appointment at the National Center for Cardiovascular Research in Madrid.
