Support for caregivers

Group programs aimed at caregivers of family members with Alzheimer's. Because caring for those who care is also a priority.

Caregivers spend many hours caring for their family member with Alzheimer's, taking on a whole range of roles and responsibilities. This, combined with the emotional impact of the diagnosis and the difficulties associated with managing the symptoms of the disease, can trigger physical and psychological problems associated with stress and overload.

For this reason, and because we are aware that the caregiver's well-being impacts the quality of care received by the person with Alzheimer's receives, at the Pasqual Maragall Foundation we offer a series of group programmes aimed at caregivers of family members with Alzheimer's disease..

These group programmes provide a space to share experiences and acquire knowledge and tools. The aim is to improve the general well-being of those who care for them, enabling them to cope with the day-to-day life of the disease with a better quality of life and thus improving the quality of care.

Group programs are developed over several sessions, in which highly relevant topics are addressed, such as the evolution of the disease, symptom management, communication with the diagnosed person and available community resources, among others. Specific guidelines and strategies are also provided to address one's own well-being and self-care.
