Dr. Dr. Josep Maria Argimon, Director of Relations with the Health System of the Foundation and the Barcelonaβeta Brain Research Center, has been appointed this Tuesday academic of the Royal Academy of Medicine of Catalonia (RAMC) at the institution's headquarters.
During the session, the Dr. Argimon has presented his acceptance speech "Social inequalities in health in Catalonia", in which he analysed the main challenges and disparities affecting the Catalan healthcare system. Following his speech, the president of the RAMC, Josep Antoni Bombí, has presented him with the title of academic, while the general secretary of the institution, Lluís Grande, formalised his incorporation with the signing of the acceptance certificate. The ceremony was attended by the Foundation's president, Cristina Maragall.
Dr. Josep Maria Argimon holds a degree in Medicine and a PhD from the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB). A specialist in Preventive Medicine and Public Health, he has a solid background in epidemiology and health planning, having studied at the Université Pierre et Marie Curie in Paris, the University of Wales, and the University of Oxford.
Throughout his career, he has been Health Minister of the Generalitat of Catalonia between 2021 and 2022 and has held different positions in the Catalan Health Service, including director of the Agència de Qualitat i Avaluació Sanitària de Catalunya (AQuAS) and director of the Institut Català de Salut.
