Dr. Jordi Camí i Morell receives the 2024 Sant Jordi Cross for his leadership in biomedical research

The Generalitat of Catalonia has awarded him one of the highest recognitions for “his relevant scientific and social work, his contributions to improving our quality of life and his involvement in the creation and management of scientific facilities of international scope.”

Dr. Jordi Camí i Morell, vice president of the Pasqual Maragall Foundation and general director of the Barcelona Biomedical Research Park (PRBB), has been awarded the Cross of Sant Jordi 2024, one of the highest distinctions awarded by the Generalitat of Catalonia, which recognizes those individuals and entities that have made outstanding contributions in the civic, cultural or scientific fields.

Throughout his career, Dr. Camí has led high-impact projects that have placed Catalonia as an international benchmark in neuroscience and research into drug addiction and cognition. His ethical and scientific leadership has been decisive in the creation and consolidation of renowned institutions, such as thel Barcelona Biomedical Research Park (PRBB), the Pasqual Maragall Foundation and the Barcelonaßeta Brain Research Center (BBRC), our research center.

As former director and current vice president of the Foundation, Dr. Camí has been a key figure in the development and consolidation of our institution. His leadership, dedication and commitment to science and society have been essential in positioning the Foundation as an international benchmark in research excellence.

We feel privileged to have his vision and experience to continue advancing in the fight against Alzheimer's, and we take this opportunity to congratulate him for having been awarded the 2024 Sant Jordi Cross in the field of biomedical research.
