The Foundation
We are working to defeat this disease and achieve a future in which aging is associated with positive experiences.
Context
The Pasqual Maragall Foundation (FPM)) was created in 2008 with the mission of promoting and developing excellent biomedical research. The Foundation is fully committed to being decisive in contributing global solutions to the problem of Alzheimer's disease and related dementias, as well as to raising social awareness to ensure that scientific support for these challenges receives the appropriate priority. The Foundation's research is carried out through the Barcelonaßeta Brain Research Center (BBRC) Foundation, research centre of the Pasqual Maragall Foundation established in 2012 with the participation of Pompeu Fabra University and the “la Caixa” Foundation.
The vision of the Pasqual Maragall Foundation is to achieve "A future without Alzheimer's", within the framework of active and healthy ageing that is associated with positive experiences and free of problems and cognitive decline. To this end, BBRC research is aimed at the primary and secondary prevention of Alzheimer's disease, which is possible thanks to the participation of thousands of people who voluntarily contribute to scientific studies to ensure that, in the near future, there will be far fewer people with Alzheimer's disease.
The Pasqual Maragall Foundation is a private, non-profit organization. Its financial resources come from philanthropic donations from entities and companies, as well as from an extensive network of more than 90,000 members who contribute to funding research. The scientific staff of the research center also obtains competitive grants and subsidies, mainly from European funds and international foundations. For more information, visit our websites:
