The Foundation
We are working to defeat this disease and achieve a future in which aging is associated with positive experiences.
This Saturday, the Pasqual Maragall Foundation’s building hosted New Open House Day, a seminar aimed at our grass-roots members and participants of the various studies we develop. Throughout the day, more than 100 people took part in guided tours of the different areas of our headquarters where we develop our studies.
During the day, Dr Oriol Grau, a neurologist and head of the clinical research group and risk factors for neurodegenerative diseases, welcomed us and explained our research activities in detail. We also had the opportunity to talk about lecanemab, a new treatment for early-stage Alzheimer’s disease that has recently been recommended for approval by the European Medicines Agency. We also had the participation of Gloria Mas, a neuropsychologist and project manager, who told us about the group programmes we organise for caregivers of family members with Alzheimer’s.
The tour continued in our laboratory, where visitors discovered the most innovative technologies that make our work possible: ultra-sensitive machines and instruments used by our scientific team. We also visited the magnetic resonance room, where our technician Lluís Solsona explained how the system works and its importance in our internationally recognised studies.
